“Horses carry the History of mankind on their broad backs.”
(Palmer)

*Horses have carried us on their backs for thousands of years - our urgent messages, our hopes and our fears have been entrusted to the horse. Nothing can quite compare to the beauty of the horse in motion and the extraordinary nature of rapport between horse and rider. Horses have been heroes and beloved friends of those who they serve. Our language is filled with references to them - "high-spirited", "unbroken" spirit, "unbridled" passion," "well groomed."*

The technology that we take for granted started with a partnership between the horse and humankind well over 6,500 years ago. They have served us faithfully, with gentle humility and great courage. There is a responsibility to recognize that sacred contract and to honor the horse. (Horses An Illustrated Treasury" by Michelle Lovric)

Without the animals that helped make us human, we would die of a terrible loneliness of spirit. We owe the nonhuman world, and the horse in particular, a debt of gratitude. The lessons of the past that the horse has to teach us are even more important today.

Equestrian Education (transportation and technology): At Another Way, we study the evolution of the horse, equine anatomy, physiology and communication, care and maintenance, basic ground work starting with tack, saddling, bridling, mounting and dismounting using a fixed stand and mounting block, and then move to basic riding instruction.

Children are introduced to the study of Natural and Human history through the Montessori Time Lines. Children come to recognize that the development and spread of human civilization was closely linked to the partnership between horse and man until about one century ago.

Today, the horse remains a great teacher and friend to the human race. Exposing children to that ancient relationship opens a window on history that engages the child, and learning respect and responsibility for this great animal increases the child's emotional maturity and compassion.

Riding lessons are part of the children's experience. As the children develop their riding skills, they will have the opportunity to ride more frequently.

Private riding lessons can be arranged Monday through Friday during the summer months. Please Contact US to schedule lessons.
