Diane Bode created the developmental model for children's skiing used in ski
resorts throughout the United States. The model is presented in Child-Centered
Skiing: The American Teaching System for Children, published by the Professional
Ski Instructors of America (PSIA-I), and Skiing is for Kids (and those who believe
in magic). Another Way is a registered PSIA-I ski school with its own
on-site instructional slope. Children learn basic skiing skill development
on-site and do transition lessons at local ski areas.
The prepared ski environment at Another Way is the model instructional environment from the Panda Skee Program presented in Child-Centered Skiing, the first developmental ski instructional program with the Montessori Method as its foundation. Another Way Montessori Child Development Center uses The Panda Skee Program developed by Diane Bode and Rosemary Peterson, Ph.D as its instructional method and Skiing is for Kids (and those who believe in magic) as the children's skiing manual to support their on-slope experiences. Formal ski instruction is conducted at Another Way. The child's transportation to the ski area on Fridays, and the season pass are the responsibility of the parent.
Based on weather conditions and staff availability, private ski lessons or supervised ski sessions may be provided to students at an additional cost during some school breaks and on some weekends. If interested, please contact Diane Bode. Our children also have the opportunity to work with Alan Schoenberg at The Ski Studio (435) 640-3103 and may receive a discounted rate when they work with him on the revolving carpet during the year. We also recommend boot fitting with Brent Amsbury at Park City Pedorthics and Ski Boot (435) 513-0672 to ensure that your child is biomechanically aligned and skiing in balance. Outdoor programs, to some extent, depend on the weather. If the snow does not fall frequently enough or heavily enough, our ski program is limited to pre-ski exercises. The ski program will only be active as weather and other necessary conditions permit it to run effectively and safely. |
